Infrastructure Engineer (Contract/Permanent)

Location: London Country: UK Rate: £50k - £52.5k p/a + benefits

If so, you could be the Infrastructure Engineer we're looking for!

About the role

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you'll provide support to British Heart Foundation's (BHF) IT infrastructure, working closely with the business to understand and support their needs.

You'll provide technical expertise to support, maintain and improve solutions required to enhance business function, information security and infrastructure, and will proactively monitor the health of the supported infrastructure, ensuring all components are regularly patched, maintained and work reliably to meet the needs of the organisation. You'll also be involved in leading activities to continually improve service effectiveness and ensuring security is maintained at the highest standards achievable.

Working arrangements

Please note this is a 12-month fixed term contract. This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office.

At BHF we believe in the power of being together, so our colleagues on blended contracts can expect to spend some time in their office, at least one day each week, on average. The use of our office spaces is driven in part by your role and the activities you need to do. This may vary from time to time, so you will need to work in a flexible way to unlock your best work for our cause.

About you
You'll have strong technical knowledge and practical experience of:
Microsoft on-prem and cloud stack (AD, Server/Client OSes, AzureAD, O365/Exchange Hybrid, Intune)
Virtualisation Technologies (VMWare)
Networking Technologies (LAN/WLAN, WAN/MPLS)
Storage Management (physical SAN and software-defined)
Monitoring and management tools (PRTG, SCCM)
Backup, restore and business recovery processes
Security Technologies (Firewalls/VPN/Malware Protection/Email & Web Filtering)

With significant experience of implementing and supporting Infrastructure technology solutions, you'll have experience of working in an IT Operations/Service Environment, as well as experience working with Microsoft Windows Server implementation and administration.

To be successful in this role you'll also have the following skills and experience:
Strong attention to detail.
Experience of working in an IT seurity-focused role.
Able to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, to identify and fix issues.
Able to triage and diagnose end user issues efficiently.
Able to remain calm under pressure and focused on tasks.
Knowledge of prioritisation and escalation techniques.
A team player with ability to encourage others and take a lead where necessary.
An organised approach to work.
